Here are some photos of the Spitfire HF. IXe MA793. This aircraft was produced at Castle Bromwich and was delivered to 6 MU RAF on 21 July 1943. It was shipped to the Mediterranean on 5 August 1943 and was operated by the Mediterranean Allied AF till it was transferred to the USAAF on 31 October 1943. It was returned to the RAF in May 1944 and stored with 39 MU in the UK till it was sold to the South African AF on September 30, 1948, serialled 5601. In 1954 the aircraft, in a poor state, was being used as a playground in a hospital for disabled children in South Africa.

In 1967 it was bought by a pilot and started the first of its many rebuilds. In 1986 it was transfered to California, USA, flying for airshows. The current paint was applied in 1993, honoring the famous British pilot James Johnnie Johnson. This Spitfire was acquired by Rolls-Royce in 2000 and donated to the
"Museu Asas de um Sonho" (Wings of a Dream Museum), located in São Carlos, Brazil, where it is currently on display.
